TPU inner tube technology

Bicycle tubes engineered to exceed expectations – breaking barriers of toughness, weight and size.

Tubolito replaces conventional butyl rubber with high-performance thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). The result is a thinner, tougher and lighter tube that saves rotating mass, survives the trail and fits in a jersey pocket – developed and tested in Austria and ridden by teamriders and everyday cyclists around the world.

Why TPU beats butyl

Three advantages you can feel on every ride

  • Lightweight icon

    Light

Reduction of rotating mass. Less weight at the rim means quicker acceleration and a livelier wheel feel.

  • Puncture resistance icon

    Strong

Extremely robust and ageing resistant. TPU's high tensile strength resists snakebites and pinch flats.

  • Compact pack size icon

    Compact

Smallest packed size. A spare fits in a saddle bag, jersey pocket or hip pack with room to spare.

Quality & traceability

Every tube is traceable

Each Tubolito carries two printed identifiers so that retailers, distributors and riders can trace every tube back to its production batch – a key part of our quality review process.

  • Product code: a 9-digit code printed next to the Tubolito logo (e.g. 907111206).
  • Batch code: 4–5 digits plus a letter, printed under the product name (e.g. 19465A).
  • Batch-level traceability supports fast, transparent quality feedback for dealers and end customers.

TPU inner tube FAQ

What is a TPU bicycle inner tube?
A TPU inner tube is made from thermoplastic polyurethane instead of butyl rubber. TPU allows much thinner walls with higher tensile strength, so the tube is significantly lighter and packs far smaller while resisting punctures and ageing.
How much lighter is a Tubolito than a butyl tube?
A typical butyl road tube weighs around 100 g. The Tubolito S-TUBO Road weighs 23–25 g and the Tubo-Road 38–40 g, which reduces rotating mass at the wheel by up to roughly 75%.
Can Tubolito tubes be repaired?
Yes. Tubolito tubes can be repaired with the dedicated Tubolito patch kit designed for TPU. Conventional rubber patches and vulcanising glue do not bond reliably to TPU.
Are Tubolito tubes compatible with rim brakes?
Compatibility depends on the model. The ultralight S-TUBO models are intended for disc-brake bikes, while other ranges are approved for broader use. Always check the compatibility notes on the individual product page.
Can retailers, distributors and OEMs source Tubolito tubes?
Yes. Tubolito works with bike shops, distributors and OEM partners worldwide. Business customers can find programme details on the B2B page and locate existing partners through the dealer locator.
